I am now enrolled in a photo class. I don't know if you all knew that or not, but I am...and it's probably my most favorite thing ever. I wish it was much longer than 3 hours, I wish the 20 minute breaks were shorter, and yes, I am the nerdy girl up front with her hand in the air. It is school HEAVEN. Today's lesson was on white balance...and to most of you this doesn't mean much, and it didn't mean much to me before today...but I am definatly getting the hang of it. Our instruction today was to walk around campus, set our white balances, and shoot some photos in the shade. I didn't think much of these photos, as they are practice pictures of walls, drinking fountains, this old guy named "Tim"...nothing of real substance. Tim, if you ever read this...you are special. So, anyway, I decided to give them a look-see tonight just for fun...and this image caught my eye. Let's disect this photo shall we?
1. My white balance is pretty spot on. Meaning, the colors are on target. The purple flower, is well, purple...
2. It's a little fuzzy. I obviously wasn't too concerned with focus, I was just trying to get my colors right, but its not fuzzy enough to make the photo unattractive, the flower is almost perfectly in focus...kudos to me.
3. This was a point and shoot move, a quick look at the flower, and I moved on...never knowing that I captured a little friend. What a cool photo. My day is now complete.

How to make...Spaghetti!
I see all these blogs about cooking...and I figured, well, I can do that. I am a sort-of better than average cook...my husband will tell you I have come along way since the plain chicken breast on the George Forman grill, accompanied with the bag-o-rice. So my first addition to the "how to make" series, is the very gormet, the very chic, spaghetti on a plate.
I was first inspired this particular day to photograph my daily, usually 30 minutes or less meal, by this big ass onion.
No really, I don't think you are taking me seriously. This onion is like a head. A huge head. Bet it goes to sleep and cries on it's HUGE pillow...
Now do you believe me? Okay, so I bet you have no idea what to do next. Don't worry, I will take this slow, and before you know it, you too, will be able to make spagetti for your own family.
Now, my Dad taught me how to correctly dice an onion once, but I totally forgot how. I diced about 1/4 of the gigantor onion into...I dunno, dices...pieces...cuts...squares....?? What in the heck do you call them? And, of course, I cried.
Here is where I get super fancy. I add a green pepper. I know, I know...you are like, "wow! I had never thought of that!" I am here for you.You are so welcome.
Now sautee with a bit of E.V.O.O. I got this Rachel Ray, I got this.
It's seriously is gonna get all Emeril up in here...chop up some fire roasted red bell pepper and add it to the mix.
Here is the secret ingredient. No, Matthew it is not love. It's Italian sausage. It is greasy. It is fattening. It is bad for you. And, no...I don't want to know a good substitute. Throw that shit in. It is DELICIOUS.
Now, there sauce snobs out there who won't like this next part, but you don't pay attention to them okay? They pick and squeeze their own tomatoes...have their garlic flown in from China (FYI: the worlds largest producer of garlic). They simmer and stir and add and taste and all sorts of other stuff. Got it. I don't. I've done it once. Not only did it suck...well, no, thats it. It just sucked. I can't fake it. So I turn to the jar. And so should you. It's good. Saves you aLOT of time. This is Trader Joes Traditional Marinara...and if those people ever come over, I'll humor them and tell them it's home made.
Went through this whole production, and didn't have spaghetti noodles. Welcome to my life. These are whole wheat egg noodles. Super delish. I do not boil to al dente like the package tells you to, because al dente is gross. I like overcooked and starchy.
Also, I realized late in the game I did not have a side vegetable dish. I was obviously suffering from a bad case of "poorplanningitis" this day. Cooked baby carrots in butter? It works for the family...but I wouldn't recommend for guests.
Put your yummy sauce all over your overcooked noodles, and enjoy!! Thats all folks. Spaghetti. Decadence on a plate. Now, you try it. Amaze you family. Wow your friends. Impress the in-laws. Follow my simple steps and change your tuesday nights forever.

Beachwalk
I went to the beach the other day on the cusp of Monterey summer. While the rest of the country bbq's poolside in July and August, we sit patiently in the clouds, hoping someday, somehow, the fog will clear...
Well, it has. Summer *might* be here, I don't want to jinx it... but it's looking good. Anyway, the air was clearer than I had seen in a long time, so I stopped off the PCH to steal a few pictures of the late sun, low in the sky, not quite sunset...
~~kind of a shoddy cut and paste...put pretty none the less~~
The iceplant these days on the beach is such a beautiful red color, and against the sand and the blue...it's one of my favorite color palettes.
~~You cannot edit color like that. Breathtaking~~
At some point along my journey I realized I was, like always, wearing my black ballet flats...(I've grown up just a little, as now my flip-flops are not my "go-to" shoes), totally NOT your beachy ice-planty type walk wear.
~~Darn the wear and tear on these things~~
Just before I headed back to the car, I was captivated by this large plastic netting, a complete disater aesthetically speaking for the beach, but for me?? Visual GOLD.
Doesn't get much cooler than that.
Well, fingers crossed for more clear blue fantastic days, and that "summer" is here, because I must say that when Monterey does it, it does it right...

Public Service Announcement.
It's back to school! Don't forget to save your boxtops on all your favorite groceries to raise money for your kids school. Here in California it's so important, as budget cuts wreck havoc on our school funds...while these box tops wreck havoc on my pocketbook; I see double boxtops...I buy it...who knows if I need it or not! :)
